From Retail Assistant to Franchise Leader: Rose’s Inspiring Journey with Rodney Wayne

Rose Hibbert’s career with Rodney Wayne is a true reflection of passion, growth, and purpose. From her beginnings as a retail assistant at Shampoo ‘n’ Things to her current national leadership role, Rose has carved out a dynamic and impactful path within the franchise. Today, she plays a pivotal part in supporting the franchise system and helping teams across the country thrive.

“My role spans a lot of areas!” Rose says. “I look after national and local marketing and promotions, design and manage team incentives, oversee our product database and e-commerce store. I also coordinate team training and mentoring, and I’m hands-on with managing and improving our online presence.”

No two days are the same. One day she’s deep into data analysis, the next she’s launching a new campaign or guiding a team through a new process. It’s the variety and opportunity for creativity that fuels her passion. “I love that I can test ideas and see them come to life. Seeing the impact of my work, whether it’s a successful campaign or a better system for the team that’s what brings me the most satisfaction.”

What originally drew her to Rodney Wayne was simple: a love for hair products. But what’s kept her here is far more meaningful. “It’s the people the culture, the support, and the genuine relationships. That’s what makes it more than just a job.”

Rose attributes much of her success to the supportive environment at Rodney Wayne. Over the years, she’s embraced countless growth opportunities: from retail assistant to second-in-charge, to salon manager, then operations, and now her broad national role. “I honestly wouldn’t have thought I was capable of all this without the encouragement from people who believed in me.”

Her proudest moment? “Winning Franchise System of the Year at the Westpac Business Awards. It was such a meaningful recognition of everyone’s hard work across the network.”

To thrive in this industry, Rose says adaptability and a willingness to wear multiple hats are key. “You need to have a head for both the creative and business sides. Being self-motivated, collaborative, and open to learning goes a long way.”

Surprisingly, much of what she knows today marketing, e-commerce, and database management she taught herself. “I often approach things differently because I don’t come from a traditional background, and that’s actually been a real advantage in creative problem-solving.”

When challenges arise, it’s the sense of purpose and team spirit that keeps her going. “I know the work I do makes a difference. That, and the incredible people I work with, keep me motivated.”

Her advice for anyone considering a career with Rodney Wayne? “Go for it. Say yes to every opportunity. There’s so much room to grow if you’re open to learning and giving it your all.”
